OBEN Celebrates @ Said Business School
The Oxford Business Entrepreneurs Network’s (OBEN) first Annual Conference celebration, took place at Said Business School based at Oxford University. OBEN was launched as a response to a group of Entrepreneurial minded people got together to support each other in starting their businesses start up ventures. The group has grown from strength to strength and is now over 150 strong from all backgrounds.
With the support of Business Link, OBEN organised their first annual celebration, bringing new talent into the group, and also attracting the support of Business Link, the local deputy Mayor, UKTI, Said Business School, and some of the local Banks.
As Keynote speaker at the celebration was Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE, an entrepreneur who was founder member of a group that launched the UK’s first black radio station Choice FM- and subsequently sold it on to Capital Radio and Global Radio – the UK largest independent radio station group.
Dr Thompson, took the audience on a journey of inspiration, and aspiration, showing them where she came from and how she got to where she is today; a well respected and as once pointed out “well protected” individual within the UK’s African Caribbean community.
